As a result of COVID-19 spikes in countries across the country, Apple re-sets its US retail network even more, reports CNBC. The iPhone manufacturer said on Wednesday that it would reclose an extra 30 stores across seven states, bringing its total number of shops to 77 or more than 25% of US operations.
Alabama, California, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada and Oklahoma are also affected by this wave of closure. Some of Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and Utah, otherwise all, are still closed for Apple 's previous wave of closures. Apple also shut down some places overseas, reports 9to5Mac.
Apple operates 271 US retail outlets, the largest of its retail corporations, and by May, as part of a structured reopening plan, it had resumed operations for many of its stores. However, the recent COVID-19 spikes in the United States are forcing Apple back into shutdowns and tighter prevention to protect employees and customers.
We are temporarily shutting down stores in those areas in the light of current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities in which we serve. We are taking this step with great caution as we monitor the situation closely and look forward to our teams and customers returning as quickly as possible.
