Dark Sky is delaying the shutdown of the Android app until August 1st

Popular Dark Sky's weather app, now owned by Apple, will keep its doors a little longer on Android.

The company said that it plans to keep the Android version going until August 1. After announcing its initial shutdown today, July 1st, in an update to its website on Wednesday. The Wear OS version is presumably still working, but we could not check it.

However, you must have downloaded or downloaded your application at least once in the past , in order to continue to use your app for another month according to 9to5Google. Both applications appear to have been removed from the play store,

On the 1st of August all current subscribers for Dark Sky's Android version will be reimbursed fully — the one-time purchase of the iOS version was just $3.99 for Android users for $2.99 a year. Dark Sky says 1st August will also be when weather predictions, maps and incentives are removed from the website and reversed from the original 1st July deadline.

The Dark Sky API is still active through the end of the year, in part because Apple has purchased the company, but it no longer accepts new subscriptions. This will ultimately cut apps from the valuable data of the platform.
