China opens a new front and increases cyber-attacks aimed at India: Intel

China is opening a new front against India with ongoing assaults on Indian information web pages and the financial payments network of the country through DDOS (distributed denial of service).

DDOS attacks are malicious attempts to overload the networks by overwhelming them with internet traffic artificially generated. A number of goals, including government websites and banking systems, including ATMs, were zeroed.

Most of the attacks have been carried out in Chengdu, Central China. Chengdu is recognized as the capital city of Province Sichuan for the PLA headquarters 61398, the central covert cyber warfare division of the Chinese army.

The attacks began on Tuesday and went on until Wednesday, people said that they were aware of the developments but ultimately failed.

There are also many hacker groups in Chengdu, many of whom are employed for covering their operations by Chinese government agencies.

Though cyber-attacks on India are usually from Pakistan or well-known hacker-for-hire centers in Central Europe or the US, attacks from China have increased over the last two day.
