China is preparing a series of new government policies to grow its domestic semiconductor industry and combat the constraints levied by the US administration. President Donald Trump, Bloomberg News reported Thursday.
The Chinese Government is planning strong funding for so-called third-generation semiconductors for the five years to 2025, the study said, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
Measures to improve science, education and business support have been applied to China's 14th Five-Year Plan, according to the survey. It said the proposal would be introduced to the country's political leaders in October.
Trump's administration has limited technology exports to Chinese firms , especially Huawei Telecommunications Co Ltd, citing national security threats.
The Bloomberg study arrives in the middle of the US-China tensions over the treatment of the coronavirus epidemic, the continuing trade war between the two nations, the implementation of a national security law on Hong Kong by China, and the resulting end of Trump's special status under US law in Hong Kong.
