China has the most 6G patent applications worldwide.

According to Nikkei Asia on Thursday, China has surpassed the United States and Japan in 6G patent applications.
According to a poll performed by Nikkei in collaboration with Tokyo-based research firm Cyber Creative Institute, China's 6G patent applications account for 40.3 percent of the global total, placing it atop the list of global 6G patent filings.

According to the research, the United States and Japan were second and third on the list, with 35.2 and 9.9 percent of 6G patent filings, respectively, followed by Europe with 8.9 percent and South Korea with 4.2 percent.

Around 20,000 patent applications for nine essential 6G technologies, including communications, quantum technology, base stations, and artificial intelligence, were analyzed by Nikkei and Cyber Creative Institute.

The forthcoming 6G mobile communications technology is projected to enable completely autonomous driving, high-definition virtual reality, and global internet connectivity even in the most distant deserts.

The majority of China's patent applications are linked to mobile infrastructure technologies, with Huawei, State Grid Corporation of China, and China Aerospace Science and Technology as the major Chinese patent holders.
