As part of its recently announced iOS 14, Apple is adding a new feature to extend the lives of your AirPods.
Apple said that the system will decrease the battery age of your AirPods by learning how fast to load and predict how quickly it can stop automatically charging them.
The AirPods avoid charging at 80%, but start later instead of charging to 100% at once, hence not remaining at 100% for a long period of time.
Many of the electronic gadgets, like Apple phones, use a lithium-ion battery, and the experts say you can not always recharge them 100%; by holding topping off, you will prolong the life of a lithium-ion battery.
It is not a fresh idea: Many modern phones and laptops, including iPhone and MacBook, offer an Optimized Battery Charging functionality which prevents their batteries from being used early.
The AirPods actually needed more of that than phones or laptops; although you can swap other batteries in a service centre, the AirPods were criticized for their "non-modular, fused together" nature. It is not possible to have the same functionality.
