Blockchain Australia Aims to Create Business Confidence With New Chief Executive Officer

The new head of Blockchain Australia, Steve Vallas, has announced that he will concentrate on creating confidence in blockchain and strengthening the visibility of blockchain technology between companies and governments.

Vallas replaces Nick Giurietto, who has led the association for the last five years. He has served as an business consultant and mentor for many colleges and acceleration programs and is the director of the Australian marketing company Honey Media. Vallas also briefed policymakers on the blockchain market.

A New Picture
Speaking to Cointelegraph, Vallas stated that by improving its understanding of technology as a stable and developed solution, it will focus on improving the confidence of key industrial leaders in technology:

The definition of blockchain comes down to people. In 2017, many scams and [poorly planned] projects failed. Their views were formed.

Vallas explained that while blockchain is commonly known for cryptocurrencies, they often can not understand how it can apply to other fields such as the supply chain, retail and the law.
The time has come.
Many industries have been hit by the pandemic of coronavirus, but the blockchain industry is one of the few to benefit, Vallas said.

It [COVID-19] pointed to defects in present systems, which point to the potential of blockchain, because it doesn't rely on people to keep the system going. Over the last few months, supply chain is only one industry which has experienced a huge disruption, and companies are now open to discuss unorthodox solutions.

He said Blockchain Australia could seize the opportunity to talk to companies about the future of a pandemic.

Blockchain Australia Roadmap

In January this year, a new national strategy was formulated to capture the potential value created in a National Blockchain Roadmap by the Australian ministry of industry, science, energy and resources. Blockchain engagement was a business-related business.

Vallas will take over the work of the Blockchain roadmap and discuss the relevant parties in the ongoing efforts with industrial leaders and government officials.

He believes that it was a necessary beginning and welcomed many as a clear show that both the government and the federal government were ready to work with blockchain leaders to develop a sustainable plan.

This was the first [grave] government interaction, both state and federal [..], with [Prime Minister] Scott Morrison just last month saying the blockchain has to be looked at.

Blockchain could penetrate many industries and could be "so disturbing" for many, and it is critical to get as many parties to the discussion early on to strategize how Australia can progress to better blockchain adoption.

The goal is to connect and bring together existing "silos of information" between different fields.

Finally, Vallas made it clear that he would like to focus on the technological people:

“Good people are already doing things and we [Blockchain Australia] needs to support them.”
