Apple's Tile rival could finally be in development

Apple's Tile-like position tracking software has finally entered development, according to Nikkei 's article, meaning you may be able to purchase it soon. Rumors about the trackers, which tend to help you find things that are wirelessly connected to, like a purse or wallet, have been circling since last year. They could be named "AirTags," obviously built to work with Apple's Find My app, and are supposed to be small circular disks.

AirTags may also have some kind of offline search feature, according to the now-deleted Apple support video, meaning that it does not need a Wi-Fi or cellular link to be found.

This indicates that they may have built-in ultra-wide radio technology, similar to the U1 chip on the iPhone 11.

While obviously in production, it's not clear when the AirTags would come out. In the August 31st report, Bloomberg said that AirTags are still in production and could come with a leather cover, and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said that they could be part of Apple 's fall product lineup. Apple scheduled an event for September 15th, which is theoretically before the start of the fall, but there's still a risk that the company will pull the wraps away from them.
