Apple revealed on Tuesday that it would no longer send USB power adapters to Apple Watch as part of an attempt to reduce the environmental effects. The announcement was made by Lisa Jackson — Apple's Vice President for Climate, Strategy and Social Initiatives — at the "Time Flies" live stream gathering, which confirmed the unveiling of the new Apple Watch Series 6 and cheaper Apple Watch SE.
Removing the power adapter ensures that new Apple Watch consumers would not have connections to the unit that plugs into the wall, but they can also get Apple 's unique Apple Watch cable that recharges the product wirelessly.
This move will not be exclusive to Apple Watch devices; it will also include future iPhones. Apple could be preparing an iPhone-specific live stream event later this year, possibly in October, where it may announce the elimination of USB power adapters from the boxes of its new smartphones.
