Apple reveals the new iPhones will not appear in September.

Apple has reported that it plans to reveal the new iPhones a little later this year. Last year we began selling new iPhones at the end of September, this year we expect stocks to be available a few weeks back, said Apple CFO Luca Maestri today in an earnings call with investors.

Maestri did not announce whether this year's iPhone availability has been postponed or limited, but rumours of iPhone shortage have been swirling for months. Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal announced that Apple had postponed the mass production of its new iPhone handsets by around a month.

Qualcomm has pointed at the iPhone setback earlier this week, highlighting the "partial effect of the failure of the global 5 G mobile phone update for its fourth quarter estimates.

Apple usually unveils its annual iPhone refresh in September and starts delivering smartphones before the end of the month. It's not certain whether the gadgets won't be available until October, but Apple could also opt to announce its new handsets at the September launch.

It is not the only time that Apple had postponed the launch of an iPhone. The iPhone X was released alongside the iPhone 8 in September 2017, but was not in store until November due to manufacturing problems. Apple's iPhone XR was also released in September 2018, and it reached shops in October after rumors indicated that Apple had issues with LCD display output.
