Despite an Ajios report which identified the company as a potential buyer for the striking social network, Apple says it is not interested in acquiring TikTok. The company informs The Verge that the TikTok acquisition is currently not under discussion and that it does not plan to conclude an agreement.
In particular, the information was supplied by Axios to people outside Apple, who reportedly knew the ongoing discussions.
Microsoft announced on Sunday that it had held negotiations to purchase TikTok 's activities, guided by President Trump, in the USA, Canada , Australia and New Zealand. Other potential buyers for the app have been highly speculated since then.
Axios also said that the purchase involved substantial private equity interest and Microsoft stated that it was open as part of the agreement to minority investors.
Apple, which was largely critical of targeted publicity, would not have had such a deal at the heart of TikTok. Simultaneously, Microsoft has tried to launch Facebook and YouTube competition a number of times, with some argue that an acquisition of TikTok will give the firm the foundation it needs in social networking.
