Apple TV Plus is supposed to have increased content with Augmented reality

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple will next year add added reality content as an accompaniment to its TV Plus streaming service. The AR content may be characters or objects from the show itself, which are then overlaid via iPhone or iPad. This year, before the pandemic of coronavirus delayed its plan, Apple initially intended to launch the feat.

Bloomberg reports that experiences are intended to attract subscribers and retain them and to promote Apple's AR technology. The report compares it with bonus content, such as a TV or film director's comment:

Someone watching a moon-walking scene in the Apple show “For All Mankind” might be able to see a virtual lunar rover on their device’s display, seemingly perched atop their living room coffee table.

Apple has been rumored to work on a couple of AR-capable head-mounted devices. Bloomberg anticipates that Apple will launch an AR-capable headset in 2022, followed by AR glasses in 2023. It added a LIDAR sensor to the iPad Pro earlier this year to explicitly improve Apple tablet AR capability. Bloomberg says that some new iPhone devices by Apple will also have LIDAR sensors added to leverage the improvements AR has already seen in iOS 14 beta constructions.

Apple TV Plus launched last year, but Bloomberg notes that many of its subscribers now have free subscriptions when new Apple devices are purchased. With the first of these trials due to expire soon, Apple seems to be exploring other ways of keeping viewers aboned. Back in May, Apple also plans to present complementary published podcasts for some TV Plus shows in Bloomberg.
