Following a high-profile hack in July, Twitter appointed Rinki Sethi as its new Chief Information Security Officer.
Recently, Sethi served as Chief Information Security Officer at Cloud Data Management Headquarters and previously worked in cyber security positions at IBM, Palo Alto Networks and Intuit.
In the new position on Twitter to oversee the company's information security practices and policies, Sethi will report to Nick Tornow 's lead channel, according to his tweet announcing the change.
Sethi also serves as advisor to a variety of start-ups, including LevelOps and Authomize, and cyber security organizations, including Women in Cyber Security.
Twitter has left the position of Chief Information Security Officer vacant after the departure of its previous security chief, Mike Convertino, who left in December to join the Arceo cyber-resilience company.
In July, the company was hit by a very public cyber attack on the company's internal "admin" software that played out on the social media site in real time, as hackers hijacked high-profile Twitter accounts to propagate cryptocurrency scams. Hackers used voice phishing, a social engineering tactic that involves tricking someone on the phone to hand over passwords or access internal networks.
Earlier this month , the company said it improved its protection following the incident, including the release of security keys, making the sort of attack that targeted Twitter even more difficult.
