3 M files suit N95 masks for Amazon for third-party price gouging

Since COVID-19 achieved global pandemic status, Amazon vowed to be cautious against third-party price gouging. However, the efforts of the company have been mixed by the sheer volume of sellers using the huge trade channel of that sector. 3 M charges that the retailer was paying massively inflating costs for defective goods or forfeited items in a lawsuit filed in California this week.

3M claims that charges of fraudulent breathers were charged for prices that were up to 20 times the price of N95 breathing map by the defendants, writes the company.

Amazon found that the accused misrepresented what was funded at these exorbitant rates and that customers had purchased non-3 M respirators, less products than ordered, suspicious packaging goods and faulty and/or damaged goods. On their platform, Amazon blocked the accounts.

Due to their extreme filtration capacity, N95 masks became one of the most in demand pieces of EPI in the current crisis. Due to its capacity to filter out small particles, the CDC recommends the respirators against operating masks. Later usually works for large droplets and liquids. On the other hand, N95 masks are more than 95% able to filter out large and small air particles.

Most organizations also demanded that the facilities for frontline reporters be reserved.
There is no room on Amazon for counterfeiting or price bagging and we are happy to partner with 3 M to keep these poor players responsible. Amazon confirmed its involvement with the suit.

Amazon has a pro-actively blocking of illegal goods and inconvenient pricing with long-standing strategies to combat counterfeiting, price gouging and procedures. We will work quickly to withdraw the goods and take action against the wrong actor as we have done here when we find a bad actor who breaches our policies, and we appreciate the support of brands such as 3M.

The site reports that over half a million product deals have been deleted and more than 6,000 accounts have been suspended over price gouging. In its own statement, 3 M estimates that more than 3.000 pages with falsified goods or false statements were withdrawn.
